CHSXmas pics — Santa Bobj and Santa Lance on Broadway, canine Claus at Rex

Capitol Hill’s gonna be a regular goddamn winter wonderland this holiday season. Here are the details on the Broadway Market’s Santa project in the old Hot Topic space we told you about last week. For anybody wondering if it was really a sneaky art installation, your answer is below. You can double check yourself with a seat on the knee of Santa Bobj or Santa Lance.

Meanwhile, the graphic on the post tells the tail tale of another Santa visit to the ‘hood coming up sooner than you’d probably like. Happy Holidays.

SANTA TAKES UP RESIDENCE AT BROADWAY MARKET
And the holidays will never be the same!

SEATTLE (November 10, 2011) – Each year, thousands of youngsters hope for a personal audience with Santa—whether to plead their case for the latest toy or just to get a magical moment with the ambassador of all things Christmas. And, it’s no different for the child in all of us, whether you’re four or 40. The visit with Santa hold often colorful memories.

This holiday season, Arthur & Associates continues its decades-long tradition of providing picture-perfect Santas and accompanying professional photographers to Broadway Market at 401 Broadway East, Seattle, WA.  And while your commemorative photo may be traditional, a visit with the Market Santa promises to be anything but!

Credited with being the first photographer to boost small tots onto Santa’s knee for the annual, commemorative portrait, Seattle Post-Intelligencer photographer Art French opened Arthur & Associates in 1943 in the corner window of the venerable Frederick & Nelson department store in downtown Seattle. Mr. French memorialized this Christmas moment over the next 20 years, when a young couple with four small children purchased the Santa photography business to continue what has become the longest-running holiday tradition in the country.

Santa will take up residence this year at Broadway Market from Friday, November 25 through Saturday, December 24. Hours of operation are:

  • Fridays, November 25 – December 23: 4 – 8 pm
  • Saturdays, November 26 – December 17: Noon – 9 pm
  • Sundays, November 27 – December 18: Noon – 6 pm
  • Saturday, December 24: Noon – 5 pm
  • Closed Christmas Day

We moved to capitol hill to get away from this Christian propaganda. We are not interested in your “family” events. We are not fooled by your calling it the “holiday” season. We all know what it is about. Indoctrination of children and Easter too. Drunk freaks running around doing who knows what. That is what this “holiday” is about more and more each year. Just like slutty Halloween costumes, little to no resemblance to the true meaning. People here twist and distort your holidays. That is the only way we can deal with it. It certainly can not be ignored, that is for sure. Maybe just once before we die we will not have to endure these three and a half months of bullshit, just for one year. What a relief that would be.

And please stop teaching your children to hate with words like SCROOOGE when people DO NOT want to participate in your religious events. It it just like saying nigger or witch. It reminds me of the inquisition. That word and it’s meaning is very hateful, harmful, and damaging. Ostracizing those who are different is not acceptable. This bullying is not acceptable. This hate should not be taught to children every year through our media, government and events. A movie should be made to show the damage your “holiday” does to people.

You moved to the Hill expecting to get away from Christmas? HAW HAW HAW HAW, to quote Jack T. Chick. That is as shallow as moving here thinking it’s a party 24/7 (like our downstairs neighbors). Christmas on the Hill is certainly not about stick-up-butt types demanding that everybody stop having a holiday because it personally offends them that people have fun (like our downstairs neighbors’ upstairs neighbors). There are colored lights and people’s pugs dressed up in funny hats and trees at the SASG and last-minute runs to the QFC on Christmas Eve. If you can’t handle a Christian-based holiday which has become a holiday for everybody, maybe you should move to the Utah desert.

this being capitol hill, can’t our santas at the very least be leather-clad? when i read “SANTA TAKES UP RESIDENCE AT BROADWAY MARKET And the holidays will never be the same!” i thought we were in for some naughty santa photos to paste to the front of our christmas cards, something to finally make the “holiday season” enjoyable. let down.

I think you’re prematurely underestimating our Santas, don’t you think? I’m sure they’re more than capable of finding out just how naughty you can be, if you would like to give them a little sample of it. You ARE up for that, aren’t you? Cuz, you know…you asked…
