We’re here and ready to work when news pops up but there’s a lot to read, look at, absorb and comment on in the posts below. Enjoy. Or, if you’ve already consumed our crafted content, take a break. Look out the window. Click on another site. You can also leave a comment on this open thread. We’ll take your resolutions. We’ll take your New Year’s good wishes. We’ll take your intel on what’s open and what’s not (see below re: our new holiday tradition). We’ll take videos of you singing Auld Lang Syne.UPDATE: Video of the 2012 fireworks view from Capitol Hill added below.

We also celebrate a new CHS tradition: The Great New Year’s Day What’s Open Punt. CHS will always be there for you for the Christmas version. But New Year’s Day is a good day for bleary eyed wanderings. There are a few New Year’s Day 2012 brunch notes at the bottom of our Capitol Hill party post but you’ll be on your own for the rest. There are also quite a few clues buried in our Christmas Day post. Good luck. Share what you know here. Or don’t. Enjoy the wander.
As for the resolutions, CHS has some plans for 2012. You’ll hear from more voices in the New Year — good news for those tired of “jseattle.” We also resolve to change our look and feel — yes, 2012 will bring a redesign. We plan to grow as a business to help make sure we can continue to spend our days reporting on Capitol Hill. And we resolve to get back in touch with you — there will be more CHS happy hours in 2012, if nothing else. Cheers.
And the squiggly lines? That’s you guys. Thanks to the 100,000 of you who stopped by this month. We hope you found what you are looking for.
Thanks CHS for all you do! I start and end everyday with you! 2012 is on the horizon and I foresee great things. Thanks again Cheers!
…as long as you don’t become one of those dreaded “national chains”. ;-)
We’re going for the local chain approach. hilltopseattle.com, cornerof12thandrepublican.com, oceanshores.com, etc.
Couple of things here in this post:
1) I resolve to quit smoking cigarettes, to get into UW or get a job, to stop being tempted to break large pieces of plate glass and to start weight training again.
2) Did anyone else notice that, according the graph showing the hits at this site per month, that the months with the most days had the most hits?
3) Lastly, but not Leastly… HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!
Thanks for the extraordinary community service you provide Capitol Hill with this blog. CHS clearly demonstrates both your commitment to the neighborhood and your skill as a journalist. And your page hits should assure you that we are not tired of “jseattle.” Not even close. Au contraire, mon frère.
Happy new year!
Thank you for all the great coverage you provided in 2011, especially of Occupy Seattle, and looking forward to reading more in 2012! This news blog really does provide an extraordinary community service to our neighbourhood, and the writing’s great. Happy new year!
Happy New Year, CHS and fellow commenters! This is the only news source I can turn to, to find out why helicopters are circling above my home, and for that I thank you.
My resolutions: More barefoot running and container gardening. Less regrets.
Much obliged, jseattle and CHS crew. It’s a top-notch operation.
It has been a remarkable year for the community; thanks for seeing us (and reporting on it here) through it all. I’m resolved to step up my involvement in the community by way of volunteering and also to make a commitment to a cause or candidate in the upcoming election. I hope to create a small enterprise; producing something and selling it. I’d like to drop some baby-daddy weight and run half a marathon pushing a child. Happiest New Year’s wishes to all. I look forward to seeing everyone here in the next year.
Happy New Year to Seattle’s best neighborhood! And a very special thanks to jseattle for all of the good work that CHS does -we have the best neighborhood blog in the city.
I resolve to be better this year. At everything. Especially karaoke.
CHS is a well-rounded newsblog. I go into withdrawals if I don’t read the site daily and the comments are the icing on the cupcake (royale). Thanks jseattle!
My goals for 2012: try something new every month; be it a different food, a class @ SCCC, or a new Cap Hill business.
I plan to continue to lead by example whenever possible (it keeps me honest and sane) and make a commitment to shop at local record stores rather than downloads with greater frequency.
