A major route on and off Capitol Hill was blocked Tuesday afternoon as a load of mirrors shifted and brought a semi truck to a standstill in the middle of the intersection of Denny Way and E Olive Way.

A whole truckload of broken mirrors. Yikes!
Was sitting in the coffee shop on the corner when this happened – they had to unload 1 box of mirrors and then with the help of a forklift got the truck straightened out and headed down Denny. Mirrors were headed for the Springhill suites Marriott downtown and they brought a couple guys up from there to help unload (and subsequently reload into the marriott van) the mirrors they had to remove. End count: 4 broken mirrors. Not too bad actually…
lost out of towners that are looking for the I-5 ramps and somehow wind up here. In this era of GPS I don’t understand it, but they should either be down on Bellevue or else using the northbound ramp going the other way on Olive. It compounds the problem when Metro decided to use I-5-Olive Way-Bellevue as its turnaround ramp for those one-way empty busses that just dropped off another load of suburbanites and now have to get turned around. The triangle of Olive Way, Bellevue and Denny has turned into a real clusterfk in recent years, all with traffic that has little to no value to the actual neighborhood, which was here for years previous.
Unfortunately I had to cringe at the driver’s mishap as I happened to be the forklift operator nearly ready to safely offload this material at a job site. Thanks to the sympathy and patience of Solarstone NW, LLC I was granted time on the clock to help resolve this problem. Elbow grease and forklift experience definitely came in handy this day! Ha! Thank you to all the patience and helpful parties involved.
Left turns on to Denny from Olive should be banned.
