If you’re looking for something to consume with a little more heft to it than your Victrola latte foam but wanna do it flesh-free, here’s a bite-sized look at two 15th Ave. options.
- Teapot Vegetarian House
345 15th Ave
So, how much do you like fake meat? If you like it a lot, you’re in biz at Teapot. If not so much, we recommend you pass. The Teapot makes that soy-based fakey meat the base of most dishes. The plates are mostly unspectacular but it’s better than anything you’ll cook at home except for that tamale pie thing you made once. - Hillside Quickie’s Vegan Sandwich Shop
324 15th Ave
Hillside is suddenly the vegan Subway — there’s a shop on every corner along the Puget Sound. The Capitol Hill outpost, like the rest, stacks up creative and pretty darn good deli sandwiches for hardcore and weekend vegans alike. Some complain that they overdo it on things like the vegan mayo replacement but we’re cool with overindulging in the condiment department to make up for the lack of things like roast beef.

Oh. Oh oh oh. There is more, my friends.
15th now has a bar that has couches, great scratch drinks – and some really good veg sushi.
Yes, that’s right. Veg sushi.
There are three rolls right now that are veg – a straight-up veggie roll called a Rainbow Roll with avocado, cucumber, mango, cilantro, and something else. Also, there’s a spinich roll with avocado and a spicy kimchee roll.
How do I know this? Well, I work there. See you there?
