A spring urban hike down Capitol Hill

Just down the backside of Capitol Hill, Seattle’s Arboretum is a glorious urban park. We visited the Japanese garden on the western edge of the park this weekend and are happy to report things are blooming like crazy. It’s a great way to shake off any remaining winter blahs Here’s a flickr-enabled sneak preview.

Admission to the garden is $5 for adults so bring your wallet. If you want to save your cash, the rest of the Arboretum is also bespeckled in white and pink blossoms. Find a trail and start wandering. We made a loop of it and made our way back up Madison for a visit to the Essential Bakery for some yummy grilled sandwiches and a few tea cookies.
