It’s going to be freaking hot here this week. Everybody knows that, while air conditioning gets all the press, swimming pools are the #1 defense against hot-itis. Unfortunately, Seattle, unlike other desert regions such as Phoenix and Sacramento, doesn’t have a lot of pools. Capitol Hill Seattle reader, do not despair. We’ve put our crack research staff to work finding and documenting the few precious bodies of water that do exist in our area. We advise you stake out your place at these locations ASAP.
Capitol Hill-Area Swimming Pool Options
- Miller Playfield Wading Pool — Ahh, we love the smell of chlorine in the morning. It smells like… victory.
- Cal Anderson Wading Pool — Conveniently close to KFC
- Madison Park Beach — Lake Washington not technically a pool
- Silver Cloud Inn Broadway — Take one for the team, rent a $199 a night room, call your friends
- Houses for sale/apartments for rent with pool — Never, ever trespass. Bad.
- Google earth — Scour sattelite imagery, make friends. Never, ever trespass. Bad.
Finally, we found this list on the city Cal Anderson page. We think it applies to all of the bodies of water above and, really, life in general.

Check out the satellite photo of the pool just north of Aloha on 16th Ave. East. (West side of the street) I’ll bet they were popular — before the pool was filled in.
