Catching up — Rainbow and Angels

Jeez, not the best weekend to be OON — out of neighborhood! Lots going on to post about. And sunshine. Good to be back — now time to catch-up.

  • We posted a poll thingy that nobody cared about. Apparently, nobody needs to blame anybody or thing for anything — we have accepted Rainbow’s fate and are ready to move on. Sorry for the lame weekend poll. It will never happen again, we’re sure of it. Later this week, more about what will and should happen next on 15th Ave.
  • California cities still make a big deal out of Earth Day. Didn’t seem like we missed much in Seattle — though we get a whole “Earth Month” instead.

1) You would surely have been much more excited by Earth Day if you had come on the guided tour of the West Point sewage treatment plan, with optional free sample at the end.

2) Blue Angels used to be MUCH louder before they switched from F-15s to FA-18s. And it’s much more exciting (or terrifying, depending on your point of view) if you live in Mt. Baker and can see the pilot’s face as they bank sharply over your house after their run down the lake.

We love watching the Blue Angels flying overhead from our house. I don’t see how you can live in Capitol Hill given there are low flying planes coming over the neighborhood all day every day given we are in the flight plan for the airport runways.

I don’t live in Cap Hill and I still hate the Blue Angels. It doesn’t matter where in town you live; the noise is still deafening.

j/k, what do you make of this?

Each year the squadron of six F/A-18 Hornets streak through Seattle skies, public offices are flooded with complaint calls. Officials expect Davis’ death to bring added concern.

I live on a hill on the edge of Madison Valley where they bank at the northern edge of the flight path. It terrifies our pets who run and hide in the basement. All of my neighbors are nervous as hell when they are flying, but they just grit their teeth and bear it. I would be thrilled to see the show voluntarily in a safer location, but it’s absurd we have these planes flying over a densly populated city. Please post links to where to officially complain.
