A quick note on upcoming promotional appearances to promote our important work here at CHS. In addition to the many audience outreach sessions I hold at Remedy Teas and the Canterbury, I will also be appearing in character as “j from CHS” this weekend at a University of WA symposium on blogging. You think it’s exciting to read this stuff, you should hear me talking about you reading it!
The culminating event of Creating Community Through Blogging, this symposium features three panel sessions on “Blogging as Public Service” with panelists Don Smith (Seattle Post-Intelligencer) and Erica Barnett (The Stranger), “Blogging and Place” with panelists Justin Carder (CHS: Capitol Hill Seattle) and Derek Young (Exit133.com), and “Bringing Bloggers Together” with Dylan Wilbanks (Seattle Metroblogging).
We’re talking five bloggers, two panels, gratuitous use of the word “community,” blog fu, relatively little violence and likely no nudity. Joe Bob says check it out. If you’d like to attend, you can get more info on the day’s events here.
If I get my act together, I’ll also post my slide deck (In a symposium panel? Have to have slides. It’s a rule) online for all to enjoy. If you have suggestions for topics to include in my 10 minute spiel, leave a comment. See you Saturday!

are you kidding? Dylan is talking about “bringing bloggers together”? You call that miserable Blarch Badness bringing us all together? It’s a wonder the thing didn’t go nuke-you-lar. Well, have a good time and say hello to our fellow placeblogging enthusiasts.
Just for that, I’m going to devote five minutes of my talk to “Why West Seattle Blog is the WORST BLOG ON THE PLANET EVER EVER AND THEY KILL AND EAT PUPPIES WITH HITLER WHEN THEY ARE NOT LYING LIARS NYAH NYAH.”
You know what? ALL MY TALK. And I’m going to find all your exes and your third-grade teacher and that old man whose yard you wouldn’t get off of. Oh yeah. It’s on now.
Oh good. Putting the symp in symposium! Fortunately, Dylan only gets 10 minutes so you should be safe, wsb.
