James Anthony Williams plea: Not guilty

The man accused of killing Shannon Harps has entered his plea to the charge of first-degree murder — not guilty. But more interesting is what could come next:

The 48-year-old ex-convict’s mental competency could become a big part of what happens next. Williams’ defense attorney says it’s too early to say whether she’ll request an evaluation for him at Western State Hospital. Though she does say he understands he’s now facing a first-degree murder charge.

“He’s understandably upset about it,” said Nancy Mattson. “This is a serious charge. The gravity of the circumstances, it’s weighing on him.”

Wow. For a second I thought that JAW had been FOUND not guilty. Then I realized that it was just an awkwardly written headline.

I’m sure that was unintentional.

I wil save the city and state a lot of money:
Put this guy out of his misery. After decades of failed treatment and an inability to fix his mental problem, death is the simplest answer for all. And he took a life, therefore he gave his away at the same time.

Shiner: I agree 100%. Its a SHAME the Death Penalty isnt available for the criminally insane. I wish there was a way to set him up to be killed in prison the way Jeffrey Dahmer was. I pray that some inmates will be paying attention to the news and kill him just to get media attention.
