CHS will deliver a pie to your door tonight

Tonight was supposed to be the Capitol Hill Community Council’s public holiday party at Cal Anderson’s shelterhouse. We wrote this about the event last week — This Hill holiday party will not be cancelled. We were right. It was not cancelled. It was postponed. Party will now be January 8th. Mark your calendars.

One happy byproduct of the unhappy postponement is this: I have four pies — two cherry, two apple — donated for the event by High 5 Pie sitting on my dining room table and only room in my freezer to store three. That leaves one pie available for you, CHS neighbor. Here’s how you can acquire that pie on this snowy, slushy, icy day.

The CHS Snowball 2008 giving experiment is winding down — Friday is the last day to get us to goal to kick in a bonus donation from pffft and the last day to add your comment vote for your favorite area nonprofit. We’re at 89% of our $700 goal which is amazing.

  • To get your hands on a High 5 Pie, delivered anywhere within the boundaries of CHS, leave a comment with the amount you are willing to pledge to Snowball 2008.
  • At 5p, I will contact the commenter with the highest ‘bid’ (so use your real e-mail in the comment form, please) with directions for finalizing the winning pledge to the Snowball bucket.
  • If I don’t hear from the commenter in a reasonable amount of time, I will work my way down the list of pledges until I get the donation finalized.
  • Once the pledge is in the can, I will deliver your pie — your choice of cherry or apple — to your door tonight before 8p.
  • Make sure to read about how the CHS Snowball giving is going to work before making your pledge comment.

There you go. There’s a great pie waiting for you. Please, winner, don’t live in St. Mark’s! I’ll need a sled team or eight tiny reindeer. (Thanks a million to Fuel Coffee and High 5 Pies!)

Sounds like a great idea. Looks like you have $75 left to meet the goal, I can donate that.

Always seek to exceed your goals! But, wow, your pledge is much appreciated! Do I hear $100?

This was a great experiment, J. Nice job using pies as bait, too. :-D
