New Hill Chamber of Commerce leaders (and why you should care)

We recently noted a post on her blog announcing Ellen Forney’s involvement with the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce. We asked executive director Jack Hilovsky for the rest of the new 2009 chamber roster. You can see the list of new officers and board below.

Why should you care about this particular Hill organization? The Chamber is enmeshed in the huge changes coming to the Hill with light rail construction over the next eight years. Among other resources, they hold the purse strings on Sound Transit’s mitigation money and will be a major player in helping define the policies and process for determining how the ‘transit oriented development’ around the new Capitol Hill light rail station will play out.

Like the wreaths and holiday lights up along Broadway and Pike/Pine? Chamber did that. Don’t want the businesses developed near the light rail station to be a bunch of disposable national chain crap? The Chamber will be working on that, too. Good luck to the new team and many thanks to outgoing prez Michael Wells of Bailey Coy Books.
