Sharrow lines are marked on 12th, ready for paint
Lucky 12th Ave. There’s a push for it to get Cap Hill’s streetcar route. Now it’s getting bicycling improvements and, lucky dog, a project to install public seating areas to encourage people to hang out and gather near businesses.
- The public seating is a cool little project proposed by Capitol Hill Housing. The plan just got a $5,000 grant from the city as part of the Office of Economic Development’s efforts to boost small business across Seattle. According to the Central District News, the money will be spent on wood stools permanently affixed to the sidewalk in 12th Ave’s business across Madison from Pike/Pine.

Lucky 12th and Lucky Cap Hill! I am pretty stoked about both of these improvements… I just hope nobody vandalizes the furniture.
thanks for the update CHS. we are very excited to have received this grant for 12th from OED! we applied for it with a concept for street furniture at several locations on 12th, in both pike/pine and the central area. i want to stress that the 12th Avenue Initiative (through CHH) secured the funding, but it will be up to the neighborhood and business district to develop and confirm the concept and implementation. we want to encourage pedestrian amenities at key business district nodes, but we also want to be mindful of creating positive spaces that will be active and engage customers and pedestrians visiting the district. if you want more information on this, please come to our next 12th Avenue Stewardship Committee meeting next Wed night 5/27 at Watertown Coffee at 6pm! Snacks and drinks provided!
