From Central District News coverage of Wednesday night’s fire:
A grease fire did serious damage to a condo at 17th & Cherry tonight. Fire crews were dispatched just after 8:30pm, and when they arrived they found flames coming out of a unit on the 2nd floor, on the southwest corner of the building.
Fire Department spokesperson Dana Vanderhouen told us that there were no injuries, and that most residents would be able to get back into homes tonight. However, fire crews were still assessing the air quality inside the building and residents were still huddled on the sidewalk when I left the scene at 9:45pm.
