While the rest of the city gets stuffy ‘town halls,’ Capitol Hill’s opportunity to discuss incoming Seattle mayor Mike McGinn’s 3 Big Questions comes in a nightclub. With beer and other elements that make discussing a new era of city politics even more palatable, McGinn and his gang of new Seattle power brokers will be saying goodbye to the War Room. Sunday night, the club is throwing its last party before closing its doors for good due to, among other things, costs associated with outfitting the building with a new fire sprinkler system.
If you can’t make the party or nightclubs with mayor-elects aren’t your thing, the closest town hall to our area is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center.
For both events, here are the 3 Big Questions so you have something to talk about when you get your 1:1 time with Mike.
- How do we build the strongest possible team to achieve the policy objectives and values set forth by the campaign (grass roots community involvement, transparency and neighborhood focus)?
- How do we build public trust in the new administration?
- What do you view as the incoming administration and the city’s greatest challenge — what should the new administration do first out of the gate?
You can start chatting here in the comments if you like.
And now, the War planning is over?
War Room is closed – so I vote for the Peace Room.
