Thanks to Seattle Red Cross for submitting this happy pic for a serious subject to our CHS flickr pool:
Al-Qawi Majidah, left, International Services Coordinator for the American Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties, and Dario Darius, a native of Haiti and the founder of Interculture, smile during a January 24 fundraiser at Faire Cafe for Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.
Since the devastating earthquake on January 12, the American Red Cross has been working around the clock as part of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, particularly the Haitian Red Cross, to bring humanitarian relief and support to the 3 million people in the earthquake zone. For more information about Red Cross efforts, visit www.seattleredcross.org.
You can also give to Red Cross by texting “HAITI” to “90999.”
If you’re looking for other ways to give, on Thursday, CHS partner Northwest Film Forum will feature a benefit screening of Eat for This Is My Body with proceeds going to the city of Jacmel, home of Haiti’s Cine Institute.
UPDATE:
Just received this information about a benefit at Boom Noodle tonight:
Boom Noodle on 12th & Pike is holding an Art Auction & Offering All Night Happy Hour Tonight, Tuesday the 26th, to benefit the Haiti earthquake victims. There will be 9 art pieces for auction and the minimum bids will start at $100. 100% of the auction proceeds will go to Red Cross to be passed on to the Haiti victims. We will also be donating 25% of bar sales to the Red Cross as well. The Happy Hour starts at 4pm, and the Art Auction will be from 7pm-10pm.
