There is a kinship between burlesque performers and neighborhood news bloggers. Many blog but there are only a few you actually want to see. Same goes for taking off your clothes. A big part of it is how you do it. Like neighborhood news, it won’t be long until a large corporate entity co-opts burlesque and finds a way to mass market it on a global scale. In the meantime, you can say you were there when the independents still ruled and the arts and science of removing your stylish clothes were studied and shared in institutes of higher learning like Capitol Hill’s own Academy of Burlesque. To celebrate your moment in history, consider attending tonight’s debut of the academy’s Alumni Spectacular:

What: We are thrilled to announce a new monthly event at the Academy: The Alumni Spectacular!

The Academy has produced a bevy of talent over the years, and we are excited to share a sample of the stars who have strutted out stage! From nubile newbies, to seasoned starlets, there’s a little something for everyone!

Doors open at 8:30, and show begins at 9pm in our new home in the West Hall Theatre of the Oddfellows Building!

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
