No new tenant in former Bailey Coy space but new owner for building

In reporting on the Sound Transit art project currently housed in the old home of out-of-business Bailey Coy, we were told the art had to be out of the building by February to make way for a new tenant moving in. But the real estate brokers in charge of leasing Barbara Bailey’s building tell CHS that they are still on the hunt for a tenant and that no business that they know of is about to move in. Broker Ellen Mohl said she is still looking for a taker for the near-3,000 square-foot retail space. Rent, by the way, is $34 per square foot.

Mohl also said that the building won’t belong to Bailey much longer. According to Mohl, the property is in the process of being sold but the deal hasn’t yet closed. Mohl wouldn’t reveal the buyer or the agreed upon price.

Bailey Coy closed in late 2009 after nearly 30 years in business on Broadway.

So to sum it up: Nothing new is happening and someone could possibly be buying the space, but no one is naming names.

I’m curious if somebody is assembling properties on that block for development. It wouldn’t be for near term, I imagine. Just curious.
