Body found on Harvard Ave E

Police responded to the report of a dead body found this morning on Harvard Ave E. According to police radio chatter, the person is believed to have leapt from the seventh floor of the Seattle Housing Authority’s low income Harvard Court apartments. Emergency crews responded to the 80-apartment building at 610 Harvard Ave E around 7:47 AM this morning after the body was discovered. Thanks to @seacrime for the tip.

Police were trying to determine if the death was suicide. Coverage of suicide is typically not reported by the mainstream media. We believe it is an important community issue to include in our coverage. Here are two resources to help: National suicide-prevention hotline: 800-SUICIDE. Local Crisis Clinic: (206) 461-3222.

In January, only a few blocks away, a man shot himself behind an apartment building at Roy and Boylston.

Also this morning, police were responding to MLK’s Powell Barnett Park after a body was found near the children’s play area.

Ah! I live across the street at The Cirque apartments and I recall waking up around 7-something to a lot of noise and chose to fall back asleep rather than investigate. I’m really glad I didn’t look out my window, how tragic.

I’m glad that you’re not going along with mainstream media on this issue. I agree, it is too important to ignore.
