It was a busy night for thieves on Capitol Hill as a man reported he was robbed of his wallet at gunpoint and two coffee shops were busted into.
In the armed robbery, a man reported he was held up at gunpoint and his wallet was taken as he walked near
just before 3 AM. The victim said a man and a woman wearing masks made their getaway in a black Lincoln Continental. A police search of the area was unsuccessful and no medical units were dispatched to the scene.Only a few blocks away, police were also investigating a break-in at the 15th Ave E Cafe Ladro. No details of what was taken in the burglary.
Just after 3 AM, another coffee shop break-in was reported on the other side of the Hill when a 911 caller said he could see a broken door on the
. at 1727 E Olive Way and a man wearing a ski mask inside the business. Police arrived to find the front glass door shattered but the man in the ski mask had fled. Police found the shop’s safe outside just north of the business, unopened. Finally, a traffic note that appears not be criminal in nature. A car crash at 12th and John this morning around 8 AM required a brief emergency response and left a utility pole leaning precariously, reports CHS reader James Knapp. We’ll let you know if there is going to be any serious utility work in the area as a result.
Man this neighborhood is dangerous! These muggings are happening on a daily basis. A big reason why I am planning to relocate to a safer Seattle neighborhood
How many armed robberies is it going to take to get more police presence in Capitol Hill?! Shots fired, assault, murder? And how is it that they can never catch the bad guys? Refuckindiculous!
Is this trend unique to the Hill or is it happening citywide and we don’t necessarily hear about it? This is, after all, a blog about specifically about Capitol Hill.
Lot of break in’s going on, this crap has gotta stop
it’s sad to see my neighborhood becoming more overrun by violence and crime – i sincerely hope we get a stronger police presence and/or organize some sort of community support to try and curb this issue. maybe more neighborhood watch groups or something? i really believe cap hill is a great place to live and i don’t want to see criminals ruin it for everyone else.
on a side note, crime is hardly concentrated in JUST cap hill – yes it’s bad here, but it’s also bad in the U-District, I-District, Belltown, Pioneer Square, et cetera. Seattle’s a big city so it’s not a shocker that there is a lot of crime. Moving away from the neighborhood shouldn’t be the solution.
It seems to me that people are missing the fact that 99.9% of these robberies are happening at 2-3am… why are people walking around ALONE (or with only one other person) at 3am??? If you know there have been gunpoint robberies late at night when no one is around to witness, then take the precaution not to walk home at 3am, especially alone.
