Man stabbed at Pillars dog park — UPDATE

The Seattle Police Department has released a report detailing the Sunday Saturday night stabbing of a man on Pine near the off-leash dog area just above I-5. According to the report, the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries when a man stabbed him in the chest around 8 PM Saturday. The SPD report is below. We’re looking for more information on the situation and will update with more details when we know more.

UPDATE 9/20/10 9:40 AM: We talked more with SPD about this incident this morning but there isn’t a lot more to add. We’re told police were called to Swedish hospital where the man who was stabbed was driven by a friend following the incident. The man told police he was with his girlfriend and friends around 9th and Boren and said he on his way to ask to use a restroom when he was confronted by the man. SPD also said the man’s description of his assailant was extremely vague.

On September 18th at 8:35 p.m. officers responded to an area hospital to contact an assault victim with a knife wound.  During the investigation officers determined the stabbing assault occurred at Minor Avenue and Pine Street.

The victim stated that he was walking past the dog park.  An adult male suspect asked him for some money.  The victim told the suspect that he didn’t have any money.  The suspect then “punched” the victim in the chest.  The victim thought that he had only been punched, but a short time later he realized that he had been cut and stabbed as well.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening 1-inch deep, 4-inch long knife wound to the chest.  He made his way to the hospital where officers interviewed him about the incident.

The suspect, who remains at large, is described as a Native American or Hispanic male in his 20′s, 5’6″ tall and 180 lbs.

  1. Where is the public outcry for this poor artistic wood carver? Seems like a knife might be a little more damaging that we deny it is.

  2. wow, way to grasp at straws and make connections that simply don’t exist. an evening assault in a park versus a cop firing 5 shots at a homeless man whittling wood who didn’t approach the cop initially? riiight.

  3. Vics,

I’m not making connections. I’m simply pointing out that a knife is a dangerous weapon. Too many people downplayed the threat of the knife in that shooting.
