A woman told police she was held up at knifepoint just before midnight and robbed of cash by her assailant. Police responded to the call early Tuesday morning near the corner of East Mercer and Melrose Ave East. The woman told police the suspect threatened her with a pocket knife, took cash and fled southbound on Melrose. Police were searching for a white male in his 20s with a shave head, wearing a blue and white hoodie and blue jeans.
The hold-up occurred only a block from last week’s mugging of a bicyclist in a nearby alley.
In our most recent look at 2010 East Precinct crime trends, there have been robberies in this area’s E1 beat have been at or below average levels so far this year.
Thanks to neighbor Larry for the tip.
When first posted, information provided to CHS indicated the victim in this street robbery was a man. We have since learned the victim was a woman. An iPhone was also stolen in the hold-up.
anybody who knows that little store there, Henry’s “fine” Foods, knows it’s not just a convenient place to get beer. I regularly see deals arranged on the pay phone in front and unsavory characters hanging out around front. Just the other day there was a dealer walking Bellevue whistling that certain “I’ve got crack” whistle to announce his presence.
Shut down that shithole of a corner store and you’d be surprised to find a bit of the slime element goes away with it.
Yeah punish store owners for this. That’ll solve everything. In fact we should evict people from their homes when crime or drug occur their houses.
mmm? that pay phone? I know that pay phone. Maybe soon the cord on that phone will be “accidently” severed. btw there are other dealers in that part of the hood…..time to root them out.
Or we could legalize drugs, use the tax proceeds to pay for things. Just throwing that little suggestion out there, bro
