Many times after we report on an incident in which somebody is injured on Capitol Hill, we learn very little about what comes after the emergency response. Fortunately we’ve been able to learn more about the bicyclist seriously injured when he was hit by a car early on the Saturday before Christmas as he rode on Broadway near Pine. A friend added an initial update in the comments. And now Seattle Bike Blog has talked with the man who was hit, Michael Duggan. Here’s the SBB update:
“The last thing I remember is getting on my bike and riding south on Broadway,” he said.
“I’m going to make a full recovery, it’s just gonna take some time.” Duggan spoke to me on the phone on his way to apply for food stamps. Due to his injuries, he may not be able to work or do much law school work for a couple months. But considering how bad the wreck was, Duggan considers himself lucky. more…
More about Duggan and how you can help him out at Seattle Bike Blog.
Glad he’ll be all right, but sorry to hear that he’s had to apply for food stamps. IMHO, not a good way to start the New Year. The blog stated that he was on his way home from the Deluxe, where he worked. Maybe a benefit dinner could be arranged, with the proceeds used to help him defray his bills, and hopefully, some of his pain. IMHO, that could have been any bike rider in Seattle. Apparently the driver saw him and turned in front of him on Broadway.

save the assumptions, sherlock.
