Oscar-worthy Hill orgs throwing Cinerama Academy Awards party (We have 2 tickets for you)

Our summer movies in the park partner Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Capitol Hill-based Gay City Health Project are teaming up to throw a party celebrating this Sunday’s 83rd Academy Awards. And they’re throwing the party with the biggest screen in the city.

If you’d like to be part of the Cinerama bash — for free! — we have two tickets to give away to one lucky CHS reader. Just tell us in comments your pick for the best picture of 2010 and we’ll add you to the hat. Winners drawn at midnight. Make sure we have a good e-mail address so we can let you know you are a winner. Nominees are listed here but don’t limit yourself to that list. We’re fairly certain many of the best films of 2010 aren’t anywhere near the Academy’s roster. Let us know what you saw and what you liked. Even if it was made in 1983, we’ll put Sunday’s two tickets in your name.

Tickets are still available for the party. You can learn more at http://threedollarbillcinema.org/calendar/6th-annual-academy-awards-party/

I think The King’s Speech will win, but my pick would either be The Fighter or The Social Network

The Kings Speech – very good movie – excellent acting.

Drags a bit here and there.

Don’t need the tickets, already set.

Cheers to Gay City and the, not really, Three Dollar Bill Cinema….

Could only be made better with a musical interlude or three from Bone, Thugs n Harmony.

I believe the King’s Speech will win. It was an emotionally moving film, with a stellar cast. It highlighted the struggles people with speech disorders deal with in order to be able to speak in public (especially when it is required of them).

animation: “Toy Story 3” beats out “Tangled”
drama: “Inception” over “Shutter Island”
comedy: “Scott Pilgrim…” beats “Red”
and everything beats “Tron” (except for the special effects)

The Social Network will win. I will also say that I strongly believe I Am Love was the best film of 2010.

I hope I win!!! I am also a volunteer with 3 $ Bill for the lesbian and gay film festival.

Best film pick has to be The King’s Speech. Colin Firth is dreamy!

Thank you
