Hill crime: Stabbing suspect’s long record, Redmond-Broadway road rage, another 16th Ave E prowl

There are a few items from the streets of the East Precinct to catch you up on. Updates on some ongoing coverage and a few new cases, below.

  • The 24-year-old suspect booked in Wednesday’s robbery and stabbing has a lengthy record. Most recently in his more serious crimes, the suspect pleaded guilty in a case where he was caught in possession of drugs including marijuana and Xanax and was, the police say, trying to sell the pills near 3rd and Pike. He was also recently released on $30,000 bail after being jailed for investigation of domestic violence last week.
  • There was another scary prowler incident in the neighborhood east of Volunteer Park. According to the SPD report on the late Saturday night burglary attempt, a 16th Ave E woman saw a man climbing outside her bedroom window and quickly called police. It’s the same area where SPD has been concerned about a series of burglaries that occurred while people slept in their homes:

  • SPD tells us, despite having a Marion Street address for the registered owner of the car involved in the incident, there have been no arrests in this reported road rage assault that stretched from Redmond to Broadway last Friday.

  • A reported armed robbery of a home in the 1600 block of 17th Ave early Tuesday sounds like it may not have been a big deal. Residents of the home report seeing a woman trying to break into the house around 7:30 AM before she was scared off. According to the SPD report on the incident, a male resident of the home said he woke at 8 AM to find the same woman digging through the pockets of a pair of pants in his room. As she ran from his room, the victim said the woman shouted that she had a gun. The woman disappeared down the alley behind the home and was not seen again.

while driving. If she had given them her whereabouts and a direction she was heading, cars could have been dispatched to intervene. Providing, of course, they had the manpower…

Really? going trying to get out of this psycho’s path – he kept nearly hitting her – she should have dug through her purse to find her phone? This is terrifying situation and sounds like she was doing her best to stay alive. It’s real easy to second guess five days later.

I’m interested to how the police are doing pursuing the case. That person is as much a menace as the Cal Anderson stabber yesterday.

Really? Angrily following someone in your car and rubbing bumpers is the same as stabbing someone?

A menace? Yes.
As much of a menace as Mr. Cal Anderson Stabby McStaberson? no.

Or drive the couple more blocks to at least pull over in front of the East Precinct.

What if that woman broke into your sleeping child’s room?

Possession of marijuana and Xanax were among his more serious crimes? So he had a long record of mostly, what, jaywalking?

Try re-reading what is above and not just pull quotes out of context to complain.

Also… “He was also recently released on $30,000 bail after being jailed for investigation of domestic violence last week.”

Or don’t you consider domestic violence a “serious crime”?
