Power outage hits 700+ near 20th and Thomas — UPDATE: Comes right back (and stays back hopefully!)

A stretch of homes and businesses in an arc near 20th and E Thomas were without power for a brief period Wednesday night. According to Seattle City Light, outages hit more than 700 customers. We don’t have a cause yet but Twitter user @carnitos posted this picture from Malden and Thomas showing a City Light crew at work.

Here is the City Light status map showing the outage area as of 9:30 PM:

I was on Broadway and Roy last night right at this time and there was a 2 second power flicker. I noticed it in street lights and businesses along the way. It was odd. I saw a few other people react also. It didn’t knock out the power in this area, but it did have a farther reaching effect than the map suggests. Check your computers and peripherals everyone.

When I walked by the crew at Malden and Thomas last night, it appeared they were moving things onto a newly erected utility pole.
