Victim in unsolved Capitol Hill murder last seen at Broadway grocery: Were you there?

SPD homicide detectives continue to look for clues in the violent murder of Zachary Lewis whose battered body was found in the future park space at Federal and Republican early on the morning of March 6th. Detectives want to speak with anybody who may have encountered Lewis early that Sunday morning and have released additional information about his final hours that might help bring the mystery surrounding the 37-year-old man’s death to a close.

According to Seattle Police, Lewis had been “hanging out” around Broadway the night he was killed. Homicide detectives now say Lewis was last seen at the Broadway Market QFC. Anybody who might have encountered Lewis or seen anything that night during the midnight to early Sunday morning hours when Lewis was killed is encouraged to call SPD’s homicide unit at (206) 684-5550.

Lewis was known in the East Precinct due to past run-ins with the law including theft and assault. He was a resident at an Eastlake facility for chronic alcohol addiction at the time of his murder.

A makeshift memorial had been created for him in the lot where his body was found but has since been cleared away. This weekend past, the FedRep space served as the community lot for the annual Capitol Hill Garage Sale Day,
