Man says robbed at knifepoint at Summit and Denny

A man told police his wallet and backpack were stolen at knifepoint as he walked near East Denny Way and Summit Ave E after the suspect stopped him to supposedly bum a cigarette. Here’s the report on the incident from SPD of the early Wednesday mugging.

Armed robbery on Capitol Hill
On July 20th, at about 2:15 AM, East Precinct officers responded to a report of an armed robbery near East Denny Way and Summit Avenue East.  The victim reported that he had been walking down the street when the suspect asked him for a cigarette.  When the victim refused this request, the suspect produced a folding knife from his jacket pocket and threatened the victim.

The suspect took the victim’s wallet and backpack and then left southbound on foot.  The victim was able to call police once he reached his car parked nearby.  Officers arrived and searched for the suspect, but he was not located.  The suspect was described as a white male, late 30′s, 5’6″, 170 pounds, with a reddish blonde full beard.
