CHS Pics: Volunteer Park’s good Vibrations (daylight edition)

I drew the sunlight assignment for photo coverage of the first ever Cairo Vibrations music fest in Volunteer Park and the 10th annual Hopvine tennis tourney battled out on the park’s courts. The music end of things was slow and sleepy in the August summer sun — Suzi will have more from the hot stuff that went down later in the day when Dumb Eyes projections got turned on and more good clean fun ensued. But the afternoon cooker had things hot and sticky at center court as doubles partners downed doubles partners — and a frosty, cool beverage or three — in the Hopvine tennis competition. Daytime edition below. Nighttime coming soon.

Soap is Soap. And his kick-serve is unrivaled in the West. He did smart by leaving me, his OG partner, for Pei Pei.

To give some context to the final match. It was a pro-set (8 games). Things were going well for Pei Pei and Soap (5-0) until Gregg and Jeff pulled out some pink balls. Then things got heated.

Fun day. I vomited. either from hipster overload or heat stroke.
