SPD says E Union apartment hold-up was drug robbery, makes 2 arrests

The couple police say were the gun-toting duo behind a “home invasion-style” robbery at an E Union apartment in late August have been taken into custody, Seattle Police tells CHS. The manhunt to track down the male counterpart in the suspected robbery team made citywide news Tuesday as the man led police on a chase through a north Seattle neighborhood.

According to SPD, the victim in the August 31st E Union robbery admitted that he ran a drug operation out of the apartment selling marijuana and meth and that one of the robbers was a former female acquaintance that he let into his apartment because she said she was there to pay him back money she owed. When the victim opened the door, he found the woman and another man — both holding pistols.

While at the scene detectives inquired with XXX about many empty plastic baggies on the floor.  XXX reluctantly said he used and sells marijuana.  He  then, after further inquiry, said that he also uses and sells methamphetamine (“meth”). XXX said the suspects were in fact looking (and asking for) his money and drugs during the robbery. He said that the suspects ransacked his place and stole some cash that was in a dresser drawer ($ 235 USD), his Motorola cell phone and his wallet, which contained several bank debit cards and his ID. XXX added that he had a box of latex gloves inside his apartment and that the suspects put some of these gloves on shortly after entering the unit.

SPD also detailed the damage done to the apartment.

The apartment was ransacked, to include dresser drawers’ contents strewn about and open, 2 beds moved, kitchen items and food spilled all over the floor and apparent household cleaners poured onto the floor and beds.

Police were able to track down the victim’s former friend at her West Seattle address and she was taken into custody last week. The female suspect provided information to police about her accomplice and a bulletin was sent out to patrol units across the city. On Tuesday, two officers on patrol spotted the suspect and the chase was on before he was finally apprehended in the Maple Leaf neighborhood

The 28-year-old female member of the duo has a limited criminal record but the 39-year-old male has recently been busted for drugs and possession of stolen property. Both await charges associated with the E Union armed robbery while the male suspect could also face a long list of additional charges from his failed attempted flight from the law.

I knew it wasn’t random.

What thought process led them to call the cops after this happened?

My sympathy goes out to the “victim”. NOT. You stupid fuck.
Hope you enjoy looking for another place to live, cuz as far as your apartment goes, you’re toast.

I won’t go so far as to say that the “victim” deserved this home invasion, but it’s pretty hard to feel sorry for a guy who was actively dealing drugs.

Why wouldn’t the SPD arrest the “victim” also?

Probably because if they did it would discourage these types of crimes from being reported.

If he didn’t have any drugs around, what evidence would there be? Only his word, and he can’t be compelled to testify against himself, can he? Or the word of the other arrested people, who might be easily challenged in court?
