A group of around 50 protesters took to the streets sidewalks of Capitol Hill Friday night to spread the message of the Occupy Seattle effort. Mostly cheered and occasionally jeered, the crowd marched up Pine and into the Pike/Pine nightlife zone chanting and trying to recruit more marchers. The group then marched on to Broadway and continued to chant and wave signs as they passed restaurant goers and nightlife seekers. A contingent of three to four SPD cruisers accompanied the march on its tour to make sure the group stayed on the sidewalks and, we presume, to ensure that nothing like this went down even though bandana-covered faces were rare in this crowd and CHS didn’t witness a single act of violence during the procession. After completing a circuit of Broadway, the group made its way down E Olive Way to Denny and headed back toward downtown.

you kids are pissing in a place that supports you.
why the fuck are you not down at westlake then? hit the like button some more. and get your ass down there
how is this “pissing”? And they aren’t kids, there are people young and old. I wonder how many people joined the march in “support”.
Why is it that when people get together to protest, the liberals have to make a comment on violence (whether there was any or not), but when pigs murder people in cold blood, liberals are pathetically silent. Shame on CHS for taking up the corporate media’s tactic of fetishizing and de-contextualizing the violence of people fighting for social justice and turning a blind eye or excusing state violence.
Let’s put it in a different context. Imagine if you every fucking day when you went to work, the news reported “JSeattle went to work today and there were no violent incidents or arrests reported.”
Even more sickening is that we HAVE seen violent, unprovoked attacks FROM the pigs and liberal turds like JSeattle around the country just can’t seem to notice.
So, to recap: liberals hate violence if it’s used to win social justice, but love violence when it’s used to murder, oppose democracy, and protect Wall Street banks. Thanks for the clarification.
I don’t see the Social Security recipients in the photo.
+1. pretty awesome troll.
Yeah, this one is amazing!
OMG can November get here so the cold weather pushes all the rif-raff back into the shelters or wherever they came? Carmen opened tonight at McCaw Hall and I had to listen to howls from 6 protestors when I was trying to park. Slightly tedious and a minor annoyance.
@ Dylan — “old” being the operative word … I’m pretty old myself, I’m almost 30, and I didn’t see a single person younger than me among the 6 hysterically gyrating around when I was trying to park at McCaw Hall tonight for Carmen. The pics I’ve seen from elsewhere are a bunch of bald, grey-haired people and dudes in Wheelchairs and Rascal scooters. Between the advanced age of many of these folks and their weird fashion sense, the protests look like meetings of the Jedi Council.
When someone, like yourself, thinks of ALL police officers as “pigs,” there is no hope for you making a contribution to civil society. Yes, some police behave at times in a not-perfect manner, but to paint them all with such a broad brush is unfair and inaccurate.
And I won’t comment on the name you affixed to JSeattle. Justin is a fine blogger/journalist and his blog has become an important part of the Capitol Hill community. So back off of him!!
Poor abused you. Such a minor annoyance that you mentioned it twice on a blog. Do you need some snow white pillows for your big fat head, Big Primpin’? I know the weather must be fabulous way up there above it all, but guess what? You are the riff-raff for misguidedly believing the world revolves around your fucking parking non-issue. There’s a reason nobody asked you if the demonstration would make you two minutes late for the opera.
They were out and about doing what they wanted with their evening, just like you. They weren’t bothering you, so don’t be a whiny fuckface to them.
Someone is incapable of expressing themselves in a way others can understand. I stamp this, “incoherent thread”.
i was at this event! (towards front with occupy seattle shirt) it was a great night we had people who were at bars and just walking the streets join us it was a pretty epic prelude to the day after which was night of 500 tents!!
