Here’s the latest from the street’s of the East Precinct. If you see something we should know about, text or call (206) 399-5959.
- The victim in Sunday night’s shooting in front of the Rialto Apartments on Boylston remained in critical condition as of Monday afternoon, KIRO reports. SPD told CHS Monday it had no additional information to release on the crime beyond the preliminary report which detailed a man’s account of his refusal to hand over his wallet in a street robbery attempt. Though witness accounts varied, SPD continues to look for a light-colored Jaguar that reportedly sped from the scene.
- It appears a business has been again hit by a theft in a Nagle Place burglary. The crime report in the Saturday, October 1 incident does not identify the business but it does report that a man was able to walk into a Nagle business early Saturday morning and walk out with a $2,500 65-inch flat screen television that had been attached to its wall.
SPD notes that the thief left behind a bag he had been carrying containing pants, a shirt, two plastic spoons, and a coffee cup that will be entered into evidence along with the surveillance footage that caught the crime on video. In August, we reported on the burgling of an iPad from Nagle’s Rock Box. - Also early Saturday, a woman and a companion walking near E Olive Way and Harvard were jumped by a thief in an attempted purse grab. The snatcher failed but not before pulling the woman to the ground and trying to pull her hair to get her to release her bag.
- In this Thursday, September 29 incident, a woman’s walk at the Arboretum turned into a car break-in — and an apartment burglary. According to the report, below, the woman told police she parked her friends car at the Arboretum to take a walk. When she returned, she found the vehicle had been busted into and that her purse had been stolen. She came home to find that her apartment in the 1400 block of E Union had been ransacked in the intervening two hours.
- The victim in a Tuesday, September 27 assault reported at Boren and Pike apparently left the scene of the attack and made his way toward home before being found by police bloodied and battered staggering on 23rd Ave in the middle of the night.
Hi CHS Blog. Two things to add here as I am a friend of the shooting victim (from Boylston.) 1) The victim is out of the hospital and is recovering amongst friends and family. 2) The victim did not refuse to hand over his wallet–he was shot before even having the chance to do so. Be careful out there everyone–there’s some really crazies in the neighborhood lately!
SO glad he’s okay. Thanks for the update!
I’m almost more confused now – the guy demanded his wallet then just shot him? FUCK that’s disconcerting.
