All we know for sure is the space on E Pike is empty and for lease. Our tipster Brad calls it “another month, another closing.” While we don’t have quite the same gloomy reaction, it is a sad thing to report that a Capitol Hill art gallery is gone.
Pun(c)tuation, sandwiched between Sal’s Pike Street Barbers and (CHS advertiser) The Honeyhole, has apparently gone out of business.
We have been unable to reach Kizha Davidson who had led the way in organizing the “13 artist” collective behind the gallery. Pun(c)tuation opened on E Pike two years ago this month in the space formerly home to hip hop boutique Laced Up.
It was one of the first businesses in the area to introduce the “pop-up” concept as a fashion shop operated in the space for a time.
Here’s how the collective described itself:
PUN(C)TUATION is a co-operatively owned mixed-use space in the heart of Capitol Hill. We exhibit art, design clothes, redistribute archival vintage wear, host private events, and generally facilitate creative endeavors of all kinds.
We believe in sustainable consumption and a new way of doing business – one that looks to our past for inspiration, fully utilizes our present resources, and respects our future communities.
Currently, there are no records on file at DPD regarding any changes to the space for a new business. We’ll keep checking to see if we can learn more about Pun(c)tuation’s end.
