Police fanned out around Volunteer Park Friday night as a K9 unit attempted to track a reported burglar seen leaving a Grandview Place E area home with stolen laptop in hand.

According to police radio reports, the homeowner saw the suspect fleeing her home with the computer around 9p Friday night. Multiple units responded to surround the area just north of Volunteer Park to look for the suspect who was described as a white male, 5’9″ with a stocky build, wearing a black hoodie and carrying a laptop. Police did have one distinctive addition to the description to work with — the alleged thief had dark, wavy hair.

A possible suspect found after a 911 caller reported a man yelling and in distress near Interlaken Park turned out to be the wrong man. Fire responded to the scene and he was treated for unknown injuries.
