The Seattle Advice People Reunion this week

Have you any fond memories of the street performers that used to reside on Braodway on the weekends?

One of the more fun ones were The Seattle Advice People that sat out in front of what was the Payless Shoe store on Broadway on fri and sat nights offering passerbys advice on any subject except for politics or religion (we felt those things really were too personal for us to engage in).

For almost 13 years the Seattle Advice People were a fixture on the Capitol Hill scene. They would also attend  the local festivals and on a few occasions could be seen on Haight Sreet in SF and other random spots around the US. The Advice People even had their own Internet streaming show in the earlier Beta testing era of the 90’s on the east side. Dan Savage had them on his national show and gave co-advice for an hour and half.

The Seattle Advice People were and are an eclectic crew of performance artists that really cared about the city and how the people in it were doing.

Lisa Schwaiger and Scott Allison were the two beginning Advice People with other that we’re dedicated to being out on Broadway on fri and Sat nights even in the dead of winter they could be found giving advice for a nickel deposit, pay what you think it was worth after.

So the word on the street is that the Seattle Advice People are having a reuion and will most likely be again giving advice out on the streets of Captiol Hill in the Pike and Pine and Braodway area (the new Braodway) so keep a nickel handy if you have the need for some advice and look for them. They usually have a sandwich board and two chairs with a chalk outline of feet in front of the sign.

 *** FYI they will be having a reunion BBQ tonight BYOB  ( 5:30pm – ? sat 25th at 120 20th ave (( 20th & Yesler))

please come by and share some good times and fun memories…. Yes we still have the stamp too! :)

The Advice People love Seattle and more especially Capitol Hill ! Come out and join us tonight or as soon as you can this week!
