‘Brawl Day on Broadway’ benefits Capitol Hill boxing team

1262712_659705167381314_835547965_oIt’s officially benefit season — the time of year when nonprofits, community groups and clubs hold fundraisers to generate both cash and much-needed neighborhood support. On Capitol Hill, we benefit from the diversity of groups active around the Hill as it translates to a diversity of fun events to be part of. Friday brings the annual Omnivorous food+drink event we told you about earlier to support Capitol Hill Housing. Saturday, an event of an altogether different stripe supports a smaller neighborhood club.

The Seattle Boxing Studio holds its Brawl Day on Broadway night of benefit bouts this weekend with food and drink provided by neighbors at Big Mario’sVia Tribunali and La Spiga. For tickets, you can stop by the subterranean studio on Broadway at Pine or call (206) 658-3114.

Along with a special bout featuring retired Pro Martin O’Malley and a SBG member Ron Rosella.

CHS swung by the underground facility for a visit in 2011.

Seattle AIDS Walk
Meanwhile, Saturday’s daylight hours also bring one of the largest annual benefit efforts on Capitol Hill. The Seattle AIDS Walk is once again happening in Volunteer Park and CHS is a proud supporter. There is still time to sign up to walk or run — and they’re also looking for more volunteers to help with the event.

Confused

Is it even legal to have a “fundraiser” for a for-profit company? I don’t find this organization listed in the Secretary of State’s search tool as legally registered to solicit donations from the public, which makes this event look very suspicious if not outright illegal.
