Capitol Hill Halloween costume contests — plus a look at Pike/Pine’s weekend dress rehearsal

Screen Shot 2013-10-28 at 12.58.26 PMPike/Pine and Broadway ran a full make-up, dress rehearsal of Halloween 2013 over the weekend complete with a parade of costumes on the street (see a few below) and costume contests to reward the best/sexiest/most ripped from the headlines-iest partiers. This year, Capitol Hill has a big hole in its Halloween costume contest circuit with the old Broadway Grill empty and looking for a tenant. We’ve included details of three alternative contests to consider — including the 30th anniversary of the BUMP! Halloween party being held at Neighbours this year. If there’s a contest we should let folks know about, say boo! in the comments.

2013 Hill Halloween contests are below. Here are some of the pre-party revelers we found in Pike/Pine Saturday night.

CHS IMG_20131027_244949_869(1)“I just thought of it three days ago… honestly I don’t even like the movie very much,” reported Jean-Marcus, as he hovered out of a strobe-lit television set as Samara from The Ring on E Pike near The Unicorn on Saturday night. “People have been really scared by it, though.” The choice of costume continued a theme for Jean-Marcus who said he “always does something from movies or TV”–last year it was Zac Morris’ cell phone from Saved by the Bell, and the year before that, a costume inspired by The Goonies.

CHS IMG_20131027_010015_187“I like how he celebrates the mundane,” said Jon about Andy Warhol, as he stood dressed as the pop art icon in front of the Cha Cha on Saturday night.

CHS IMG_20131027_012813_407“People always accuse me of looking like him,” reported Jeremy who was wearing a “Thrift Shop”-esque fur coat, and looking every bit like Macklemore in front of the Barca. “I paid 99 cents! [for the jacket]” he added. Jeremy and his friend said they’ve been fans of the Capitol Hill rapper for years.

“I’m a woodlands nymph of the Philippines,” explained Natasha Manila who attracted a large crowd near E Pike and Broadway including several passersby who stopped to pose for photographs with her in her stand-out costume Saturday night.
