  • Armed robbery in Cal Anderson: Only hours before SPD’s top brass came to the East Precinct for a community meeting to discuss the end of summer crime wave, police were responding to a reported gunpoint robbery in Cal Anderson Park. The incident wasn’t discussed at the day’s community meeting but CHS has learned that victims arrived at the East Precinct at 12th and Pine a few blocks from the park around 3:52 AM Friday but ended up calling 911 to report the robbery. According to police radio dispatches, one victim was hit in the face by a skateboard in the incident. The victims told police suspects had left the area of the park in a gray vehicle. A search of the area did not result in any immediate arrests. We do not yet have further details of the robbery or the suspects. Police were looking for a white male with a dark hoodie but it’s not clear yet what role he played in the incident. Seattle Fire was not called to the scene to treat the victim who reported being struck by the skateboard.
  • Gang squad arrest: The SPD gang squad nailed a suspected thief early Saturday morning in the first night of the unit’s presence in Pike/Pine to help quell concerns of a surge in neighborhood street crime. Here are details on the arrest from SPD:

Right in front of officers, the suspect snatched the woman’s cell phone out of her hand and walked away. Officers asked the woman if she knew the suspect and discovered that, no, she did not. Officers quickly caught up to the suspect and arrested him for investigation of theft. They also found the man was wanted on a felony warrant, and booked him into the King County Jail.Police were also investigating another street theft reported in the wee hours near 11th and Pike and property damage to a bar in the 400 block of E Pine. Meanwhile, officers chased down an assault suspect who injured a male at Rhein Haus after a brief foot chase on 12th Ave.In other words, it was a relatively quiet night around the Pike/Pine core.
  • Scofflaw: The long arm of the law also reeled in this offender —
