An injury crash involving three vehicles and a bike tied up morning commute traffic on E Pine Tuesday morning.
We are still gathering details on injuries in the incident. UPDATE: Seattle Fire radio dispatches reported three patients were being transported from the scene, two elderly, and at least one suffering chest pains. UPDATE x2: SFD confirms three patients including a male and female in their 70s and a male in his 60s with minor injuries. All suffered non-life threatening injuries. The male in his 70s was reported in serious condition and was being rushed to the emergency room.
Police and Seattle Fire were called to the scene at Bellevue and Pine just before 8 AM to a report of a collision involving three vehicles. A van involved in the crash was totaled. A nearby restaurant window was also shattered in the crash. A bike could be seen among the crashed cars but reports from the scene are that the rider was not injured.
Police closed the intersection to traffic during the response and investigation. Buses were rerouted and offloading riders at impromptu stops away from the crash scene. The investigation was expected to continue until around 9:30 AM. UPDATE: The intersection was reopened to traffic just before 9:20 AM.

Wow, thats a lot of damage. Especially considering that vehicles should really never be traveling above 15-20 mph in that area.
Definitely looks like someone was hauling ass down Bellevue Ave.
KOMO says the driver had an “apparent medical episode” causing him to run the red light northbound at Pine and crash into a bunch of vehicles. Hope all are OK and glad it wasn’t worse.
This intersection has been featured before (including on CHS) as one of Seattle’s most hazardous for people walking and bicycling. Although I guess this could have happened anywhere.
