Capitol Hill’s Station 25 remembers veteran firefighter

The Seattle Fire Department and Capitol Hill’s Fire Station 25 are mourning the loss of firefighter Matt Runte.

The 44-year-old first responder died earlier this month while on a jog in the neighborhood near his station.

SFD says Runte worked as part of Engine 25 (B-platoon) on Capitol Hill throughout most of his career, “dedicating 19 years of his life to serve the residents of Seattle.”

A fundraiser has been set up to help support Runte’s family.

Fire Station 25 is located on E Pine just east of 12th Ave.
