- Broadway purse snatch: Police were searching for a purse snatcher after a victim reported the theft Wednesday morning on Broadway. The 600 block E incident took place just before 9 AM where the victim said she had taken refuge inside a nearby business after the man grabbed her bag and fled to a nearby bus stop before walking away from the area. Police were searching for the suspect described as a white male wearing clothing including a medical gown and socks but no shoes and checking nearby school campuses, grocery stores, and medical facilities. A man matching the suspect was reported around nearby Lowell Elementary but was not immediately found. There were no serious injuries reported.
- 23/Union gunfire: A bout of gunfire left behind shell casings but caused no reported injuries or property damage late Friday night at 23rd and Union. According to SPD, callers reported the three to four gunshots and a speeding vehicle around 10 PM. Arriving officers found evidence of a shooting but no victims and no damage at the scene. Shooting incidents in 2022 have jumped more than 30% in Seattle compared to the same period last year. The increase in the East Precinct has trailed the citywide total with around a 20% increase, according to SPD statistics.
- E Fir homicide: SPD says detectives continue to investigate the early Friday shooting that left one man wounded and another man dead in an E Fir alley but declined to provide more information about the incident citing the open investigation. CHS reported here on the shooting involving a crashed stolen tow truck near 12th and E Fir early last Friday morning. SPD said information including whether the shooting involved self defense and the connection between the tow truck and the incident could jeopardize the case. The medical examiner, meanwhile, has not yet released its report including identification of the man shot and killed in the incident.
