‘Capitol Hill’s #1’ teriyaki joint is immortal — Welcome Teriyaki & Wok ‘back’ to Broadway

One cannot measure the life of “Capitol Hill’s #1” teriyaki joint as a simple instant. This is a multiverse.

Last month, CHS bid goodbye to Broadway’s Teriyaki & Wok as its longtime owners announced they had sold the business and were taking their 14 years of Broadway restaurant experience to Federal Way.

This month, we ask you to say hello.

Turns out, Teriyaki & Wok’s buyer purchased the whole kit and kaboodle and almost nothing but ownership has changed at the Broadway fast food staple.

Teriyaki & Wok is now open on Broadway. Still.

Turns out, the transaction echoes the deal when Jeom and Jung Jae Hur along with Jeomโ€™s sister Jamie Yeo took over the teriyaki joint in 2010. Something about Teriyaki & Wok makes the restaurant exist beyond the typical constraints of brick and mortar.

It’s a situation similar to another apparently immortal Capitol Hill restaurant space. CHS reported on the new ownership from the Pattyโ€™s Eggnest food and drink family that has respun the former Rancho Bravo into Tetoโ€™s Cantinaย with almost no changes beyond the new name.

At Teriyaki & Wok, business license records show the joint’s new steward is an experienced restaurateur. New owner Eduardo Martinez is also part of Rainier Ave S’s La Herradura restaurant.

Teriyaki & Wok is located — again and again — at 324 Broadway E. Learn more at teriyakiandwok.com.

This is great news! Iโ€™ll miss the original staff but to know I can still get my go-to comfort dinner, I couldnโ€™t be happier

Yay! Hopefully the new owners won’t change a thing from the old menu.

Rancho Bravo took a deep turn and I stopped going after the second time I ordered Pozole with no meat in it a couple years ago. It felt like they took advantage of the fact they were a taco place on Capitol Hill, and people were going to go there no matter what. Drunk people aren’t exactly discerning foodies, and aren’t going to notice quality shifts. I hope the new place keeps some consistency with their quality.

I will absolutely miss the previous owners. My order was usually placed before I even got the to the counter. They said, the spicy chicken and salad to-go was pretty much the same. If the new owners donโ€™t change anything, they will have my continued following.
