A growing Capitol Hill food and drink family will fill a space on Broadway left empty by a loss in another.
Plans for the new Chandelier Lounge are underway in the 400 block of Broadway E in the space formerly at the center of the Boca family of Argentine steakhouse and bakery food and drink.
CHS reported here on the death earlier this year of founder Marco Casas-Beaux at 72 that left Broadway’s Boca Restobar and Grill, and the Boca Pizzeria and Bakery shuttered and in ownership limbo.
The Broadway steakhouse will find new life as the owners of 15th Ave E’s Bites of Bangkok are readying their plans for a new lounge to join the Broadway bar scene.
There aren’t details on the plans for the Chandelier Lounge yet but Bites of Bangkok has been part of the 15th Ave E scene since its 2018 debut under owners Jansri Parichat and Pranesh Sharma as the Capitol Hill food and drink veterans turned the space once home to the Bagel Deli into a venue evocative of the shuttered Jai Thai’s mix of Thai food and entertainment.
The good news for the former Boca space comes as another void in Broadway has been preparing to open this month. CHS reported here on Guillotine, the food and drink venture from veteran bartenders Colin Smith and Andrew Larson taking over the space formerly home to the Southern-style cocktail joint Witness.
There is also news of new ownership for a couple other bars that should help bring new energy to the Broadway-area nightlife community this summer. More on that, soon.
The Chandelier Lounge will open soon at 416 Broadway E. Stay tuned for details.

This place is gonna fail so hard. You aren’t gonna get fancy people to hang out in this section of Broadway.
Drink-y places like Post Pike, Herb and Bitter, Olmstead, Nacho Borracho, Bait Shop, Corvus, and the DeLuxe are doing pretty ok
Not saying all of broadway. Just this specific street (across from QFC next to bus stop). Seems to fancy for this block.
Doesn’t sound dissimilar to Herb and Bitter the next block over which does fine and attracts the same crowd.
Block over is much nicer. Doesn’t have druggies laying everywhere.
Hi as part of my usual “fancy person” routine I tend to frequent Herb & Bitter, a mere one block away from from the new Chandelier Lounge. However, I wouldn’t be caught dead over in that part of town. What a pain it is to be forced to teleport over to Olmstead so as to avoid the dreaded block. And when I need groceries? There are absolutely no circumstances when I would buy my groceries from the far more convenient and cost-friendly QFC than going a literal mile out of my way to pay double at Whole Foods
If the southern part of the block is too scary, you can always duck into the first door, La Cocina’s Tequila Bar. The family there cleans that corner of the street every day.
I know that family personally and our community is very fortunate to have them here.
