A woman was shot and killed and police were searching for a reported female shooter who fled the scene in an 11th Ave murder early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the 1400 block off 11th Ave to a report of at least three gunshots and a person down just south of E Pike at 1:35 AM.
The Seattle Police Department says officers arrived and located a 25-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. “Officers attempted life-saving measures until Seattle Fire Department arrived,” SPD reports. “Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Seattle Fire was challenged accessing the area due to nightlife crowds. Police were planning to carry the victim to 11th and Pike for treatment, according to emergency radio updates.
Police says they do not know what led up to the killing but witness reports described multiple vehicles leaving the scene at the time of the shooting and a possible shooter was described as a female wearing a blue jacket.
No suspect vehicles were reported located and there were no arrests.
The incident is the first major instance of gun violence amid Capitol Hill nightlife crowds since summer. Police are looking for help in the investigation of the murder of trans victim Kenji Spurgeon who was gunned down in an E Pine parking lot in July.
Early Saturday’s murder is reported as the 52nd in the city this year as Seattle approaches last year’s total of 74.
The homicide rate in Seattle jumped from 4.3 murders per 100,000 people five years ago to 9.6 in 2023 as surging gun violence continued to rise after spiking during the heights of the COVID pandemic.

That area is getting out of control. It wasn’t this bad before Covid. Sure there were incidents but it’s getting worse. Wild drunk crowds. People coming here who don’t live here to get wild, street race, deal drugs and have beef with each other and it’s getting worse and worse. And now another tragic loss of life. Hope they catch the perps but this cannot continue. Insert the “this is fine” dog in a fire meme here.
Feel free to continue to enjoy mischaracterizing comments.”This is fine” says no one here.
It’s how their tribe squares the circle. “The libs want to” (fill in the blank.)
It gives themselves permission to say ignorant things as fact. Reenforce their own perceptions. It’s okay to hate these people. They are trying to ruin America and make it unsafe. Sharia law…Yunno…Boko Haram, Jade Helm. They are shameless in their quest to “other” people using pure crap as a weapon.
They simply will not change so we must vote them out.
This sounds like something that likely stemmed from a personal beef, not much that can be done about that. Let’s not get carried away and act like this is happening every single night
2 nights in a row is no bueno!
Well, it happened the again Saturday, the next night, so…. “Personal beef & nothing can be done” just doesn’t cut it. This is not ok. For anyone.
This didn’t age well…
Not much to be done about a personal beef. Let’s not normalize shooting someone over a personal grievance. I hope the murderer is caught and faces the maximum amount of legal punishment they can receive. I hope those that retaliated receive the maximum amount of punishment that is legal under the current system of justice.
What about the people who retaliate against the retaliators?
Guns guns guns.
To the melody of “Spam, Spam, Spam”
Just heard a barrage of gunfire this morning. I’m curious as to what venue is attracting this crowd.
Capitol Hill
Was Pioneer Square. Was Belltown. Now CH. Make the hill less hip, and the violence will follow.
we need more conflict resolution teams to get the 2 parties to talk through their differences, instead of turning to violence. violence only begets more violence. it is nice that this happens in an affluent area, so the problem can generate some real action.
