- 17-year-old armed robbery suspect arrested: SPD says the teen gunman suspected in a series of armed robberies including a February hold-up at a Central District Domino’s pizza has been arrested in Redmond:
Community tips as well as physical, video, and digital evidence helped Seattle police detectives in the Robbery Unit track down the suspect. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested for robbery on March 6 in Redmond. The arrest was made in partnership with Bellevue and Redmond police departments.
CHS reported here on the Domino’s robbery and a hold-up hours later at the 12th Ave Chevron market. “In each of the robberies, a gun was drawn, and clerks were frightened as either cash, merchandise or tobacco products were stolen from gas stations, pizza shops or stores,” SPD says. While a team of teens appears to have been involved in each stick-up, no other arrests have been announced. The King County Prosecutor’s office said it expected to file any charges against the 17-year-old Tuesday. - Metro driver performs CPR: A Metro coach operator helped perform life-saving CPR on a suspected overdose victim early Tuesday at a North Capitol Hill bus stop. Police and Seattle Fire responded to the 911 call just before 6:30 AM as the driver was reported performing CPR on a man found unconscious with blood in his mouth at the stop. According to Seattle Fire radio updates, the patient was transported to the hospital. We will update when we learn more about his condition.
- Madrona townhome fire: Seattle Fire was investigating after putting out a small fire inside newly constructed and unoccupied townhomes near 34th and Spring Monday night. SFD reports the small fire reported around 9 PM inside one of the units was taken care before it spread. There were no reported injuries.
- Saturday 2 AM gunfire: Police investigated gunfire early Saturday morning off North Broadway. According to East Precinct radio updates, callers reported multiple shots a car fleeing the area around Harrison and Federal just after 2 AM. There was no reported property damage or injuries and no arrests.
- Suspicious item at Swedish: The arson and bomb squad were called to Swedish Hospital Sunday morning around 10 AM after a suspicious item was found on a balcony area of the medical facility. Police say the caller reported finding a “suspicious tube.” Investigators determined the object was not hazardous and reopened the area.
- Helicopter aids in arrest: If you noticed the Guardian One helicopter over the area Friday night, SPD says it was called in to help with the arrest of a domestic violence robbery suspect at an unnamed area shelter:
At 2034 hours, officers responded to a report of an assault at a shelter. After speaking with the victim on scene, officers established probable cause for DV robbery. While still on scene the suspect called into the shelter requesting to come pick up his belongings from the shelter. Officers set up containment on the location and requested assistance from KCSO Guardian One. The suspect returned to the shelter and was met by officers at the basement door. The suspect managed to evade capture at the shelter. Due to the good containment set up by officers and with the assistance of Guardian One the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody a block away from the scene. Suspect was booked into KCJ after being medically cleared by HMC. An officer sustained minor injuries during the arrest and was treated at a local hospital and cleared. - Apartment robbery: Police investigated a Thursday night robbery inside a 12th at Spruce apartment:
At 2251 hours, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 170 block of 12th Avenue. Victim was in his apartment when he opened the door after someone knocked. Upon opening the door, two suspects pushed into the apartment and pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded his stuff. Suspects stole the victim’s wallet, car keys and some other small items from the apartment, before leaving. The victim was not injured during the incident. - Man shoots self in leg: Police say a man who arrived at Harborview late Wednesday night apparently shot himself in the leg. SPD says the man arrived at the First Hill emergency room around 11 PM with a gunshot wound to his left leg. “Officers and GVRU Detectives attempted to interview the male, but he refused to provide any details about the incident,” SPD reports. Officers determined the man was not involved in a shooting reported that night in Southwest Seattle and surmised the injury was “possibly self-inflicted / accidental.”
- First Hill hate crime charges: A 42-year-old has been charged in a hate crime assault on First Hill. Prosecutors say John David French yelled anti-Black slurs and assaulted a woman in a February incident at Hubbell Place and 9th. He was arrested by police after agreeing to exit his nearby apartment. French is slated to enter a plea on the charge this week.
