The FBI has issued an alert to owners and a joint task force involving the bureau’s counterterrorism division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating acts of vandalism against Tesla vehicles including an arson fire that damaged a 2022 Model S parked near the busy restaurants and bars of Capitol Hill’s 15th Ave E earlier this month.
“These incidents have involved arson, gunfire, and vandalism, including graffiti expressing grievances against those the perpetrators perceive to be racists, fascists, or political opponents,” the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center alert reads. “These criminal actions appear to have been conducted by lone offenders, and all known incidents occurred at night.”
The alert follows the Thursday 8:15 PM fire set the night of March 13th when a white Tesla sedan parked along 15th Ave E was doused with gasoline and set alight days after a fire damaged multiple Tesla Cybertrucks at a Seattle storage yard.
Witnesses reported two possible suspects fleeing from the scene in a busy restaurant and bar area of Capitol Hill including one who dropped a red gas can on the sidewalk as he fled near 15th and John.
Police recovered the can but have not announced any arrests in either of the Seattle Tesla incidents.
Seattle Fire responded to knock down the flames but not before the vehicle was rendered undrivable and smoke filled the neighborhood.
The car damaged in the 15th Ave E incident was registered to a Tacoma address.
The Seattle vandalism was part of reports of incidents targeting Tesla cars and Cybertrucks across the country as backlash against company CEO Elon Musk and frustration around Department of Government Efficiency cuts to the federal government as the billionaire has become a trusted advisor during the second Trump administration.
A federal task force has reportedly been formed by FBI director Kash Patel to investigate the wave though it is unclear how many resources are actually involved and if any task force personnel are assigned to the Seattle FBI office.
In one recent arrest in Colorado, the ATF, the FBI’s Denver Field Office, and the Loveland Police Department were all reported to have been involved in the investigation.
CHS checked with the FBI Seattle Field Office to learn more but only got the party line being repeated to media across the country in response.
“Director Patel has been unequivocally clear: The FBI will be relentless in its mission to protect the American people,” the statement reads. “Acts of violence, vandalism, and domestic terrorism — like the recent Tesla attacks — will be pursued with the full force of the law.”

HAHAHA maybe it’s time for everyone to submit fake tips? Can’t believe our government is protecting Elon so much.
I like this idea! F Elon!
The vast majority of the people who bought Teslas are progressives. This was before the election obviously, but still the same. In other words, it is progressives vandalizing or destroying a fellow progessive persons car. This is hurting the owner of the car more than it’s hurtin Musk.
I think the majority are libs more so than progressives
Reportedly, most of his net worth is tied to Tesla stock and he may be a bit over-leveraged now after buying twitter. This is far worse for Elon if the inevitable hate towards anything connected to him continues to build. Tesla owners should just sell and insist that the dealership give them their money back. Seems simple enough. I heard Rivian is giving discounts for Tesla trade-ins! This is just the free market speaking, and conservatives and liberals alike always go on about how they love the free market, don’t they?
Besides, China has far superior EVs in terms of both quality and cost anyway, and we don’t even get access to their market thanks to our myopic “protectionism”. This isn’t William McKinley’s era; we’re an interconnected part of international trade with a declining empire, and sad American company Tesla just can’t compete (on top of being run by a White Supremacist Apartheid-loving man-child who’s hopelessly addicted to ketamine), and now people are just catching onto what was obvious to anyone paying attention to the EV market at large. Tesla was always a bubble waiting to burst, full of hot air. Or maybe the roadster is finally coming now lol
So as far as I’m concerned, Teslas burn and I sleep.
> Tesla owners should just sell and insist that the dealership give them their money back
You don’t exist in the real world
A lot of dealers are not buying teslas because they have no resale value now. No one wants to buy them directly from the owner either.
Not really…Insurance pays like a slot machine. They are doing them a favor.
It’s still not domestic terrorism; Musk just wants the FBI to circumvent due process, and to pave the road for circumventing due process for more and more people this administration doesn’t like. You can see that from the ICE abductions of people with valid green cards and visas this week.
High priority. El Salvador for Tesla haters.
Those teslas imploded… I saw it. Nobody caused it… oh well.
It was Sara Nelson and Tanya Woo and I can prove it.
🤣🤣🤣
Did you see someone vandalize a Tesla? Answer: No. You didn’t.
not a big neighborhood for snitching to begin with, but for trashing a tesla? people’s memories about March 13 are about to get real hazy
