- Cal Anderson rape: Police investigated a reported sexual assault in a tent at Cal Anderson Park late Friday night. According to East Precinct radio updates, police were called to meet the victim on Broadway after the assault where she described the attack in a tent where she was staying in the nearby park. Police found ten tents in the area and kept watch for the suspect to return but there were no reported arrests. The victim was taken to Harborview.
- Broadway hit and run: Police were looking for the driver of an SUV who fled after hitting two pedestrians crossing Broadway late Sunday night. Police say the collision through one of the victims onto the adjacent sidewalk and left the other down in the street but both people fortunately suffered only minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say the driver of the dark SUV sped away on Broadway, colliding with another driver at Republican before fleeing the area. Police say the SUV in the 11:55 PM crash was captured on a Metro security camera but could not be immediately located.
- Dick’s beating arrests: Multiple suspects were chased down and taken into custody and an assailant armed with a handgun was tasered and apprehended in Cal Anderson after a victim was beaten in an assault outside Dick’s Drive-in Sunday night. SPD was called to the area of the Broadway restaurant around 8:15 PM to the reported beating and possible robbery. Multiple suspects were reported fleeing the scene including one who had brandished a firearm, leaving the victim beaten and bleeding from the ears. As Seattle Fire was called to treat the victim, SPD chased down a group of the suspects near the crime scene. The suspect seen with the handgun was found trying to flee through Cal Anderson Park. He was taken into custody by police after an officer shot him with a taser. SPD says a firearm with its serial number removed was recovered at the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. UPDATE: SPD reports it is investigating the case as a robbery and that the four suspects arrested were teenagers. “One of the suspects, 15, had an arrest warrant for Escape and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm,” SPD says. “The 13 year old had a warrant for Assault.”
- Yesler Terrace stabbing: Police arrested a 28-year-old after he allegedly stabbed his mother in a domestic dispute early Sunday at a residence near 8th and Madison. Police and Seattle Fire were called to the assault in Yesler Terrace just before 5:30 AM. The woman reported to have suffered serious injuries in the assault. Police were able to arrest the suspect after a foot chase:
When officers approached the man ran. During the foot chase, he threw a backpack onto interstate 5. Officer took the suspect into custody and recovered the backpack, which contained what is believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault. - 520 rescue: Police helped with a water rescue Saturday night after a man reportedly jumped off the 520 bridge into Lake Washington:
At 1749 hours, a report of subject jumping off the 520 bridge and in the water. Good Samaritans assisting subject. The subject was in the water and clinging onto the swim ladder of the assisting vessel. Harbor was able to grab hold of the subject and pulled him aboard the patrol vessel. The subject was placed in custody and transported to a nearby by dock and evaluated by SFD/medics. Subject was placed under ITA and transported to HMC via AMR. - Street racing: Police tracked a group of street racers across the city Friday night including a stop in the Central District near Rainier and 23rd:
At 2230 hours. multiple street racing event occurred throughout South, East and West Precincts. Approximately 50 vehicles were involved in the events. Vehicles took over five intersections, did donuts, and set off fireworks. Each location drew pedestrian onlookers. At each location, officers quickly ended the events and dispersed the offending cars out of the area. These events were managed by SAT, CRG and South Patrol. The events began around 2300 hours and ended by 0030 hours. - Driver robbed: A food delivery driver who left his vehicle unattended along the 1500 block of 10th Ave Tuesday night to pick up a delivery returned to find a thief in the car. SPD says the 8:42 PM incident was reported as an armed robbery after the suspect made off with the victim’s phone from inside the car and pointed a pistol at the driver as he made his getaway. “With the victim in fear of being shot, he backed up and stopped his engagement with the suspect,” SPD reports. The suspect was last seen on foot westbound on E Pike but could not be located.
