Council calls for King County Assessor and Executive candidate Wilson to resign over stalking allegations

Wilson has the Seattle conservative radio vote locked up

The King County Council called Tuesday for County Assessor and King County Executive candidate John Wilson to resign.

Wilson, who has strived to bring a more conservative voice to the race for the executive’s office, has been accused by his ex-partner of stalking and harassment. β€œThe scariest message was one where I said, β€œLEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!!” and he responded, β€œNEVER,’” the partner wrote in a court petition seeking a restraining order against Wilson who is currently in his third term as County Assessor.

Tuesday, the council voted unanimously to approve a motion demanding Wilson to resign. Councilmembers Claudia Balducci and Girmay Zahilay, who are opposing Wilson in this year’s race for the executive’s office, have also called on the candidate to drop out of the election.

Balducci sponsored the motion approved Tuesday in the unanimous vote.

Dow Constantine, who led the county since 2009 before deciding not to run for reelection this year, has been chosenΒ as the new CEO atΒ Sound Transit.

Wilson has denied the allegations and, so far, refused to step down or drop his candidacy.
