Mintish, a ‘Levantine🇵🇸🇯🇴🇱🇧🇸🇾-inspired Coffee House’ with Seattle vibes, coming to Capitol Hill

Thanks for the picture and tip, Tammy Jo

There are lots of ways CHS gathers local news. Ohe of our favorites is the reader tip. The latest comes to us from the CHS Facebook Group where longtime reader Tammy Jo got the scoop on a new cafe coming to Harvard Ave E — welcome Mintish:

Their tagline is Levantine roots. Seattle vibes. ❤️ We walked by and met Nano, who is opening Mintish with his brother in late August. (space was the former Bauhaus reboot) Coffee Teas and Food. Super friendly + the renovations look fresh & welcoming.

The new project is coming along in the Rubix Apartments building space where the Bauhaus reboot sputtered to a recent stop.

Debuting in 1993 at the corner of Melrose and Pine and known for its “strong coffee” and book-lined walls, Bauhaus was loved for its library-like feel, plentiful tables, and long hours — 6 AM to 1 AM. Bauhaus and its block of neighboring small businesses on E Pine at Melrose eventually became part of one of the first in a wave of nostalgia demolishing real estate deals that ushered in a decade of construction on relatively massive mixed-use developments boosted taller by Pike/Pine’s preservation incentives. In April 2012, CHS reported on the acquisition of Bauhaus’s block that would displace the 1993-born cafe and other shops like Wall of Sound, Edie’s Shoes and Le Frock.

Efforts to reboot the brand came and went including its final run on Harvard Ave E. Before Bauhaus, various cafes have given the spot a go.

Now Mintish is readying the space for something new described as a “Levantine🇵🇸🇯🇴🇱🇧🇸🇾-inspired Coffee House” with Seattle vibes.

Mintish will open soon at 515 Harvard Ave E. Watch @mintish_coffee for updates.

Yes. That one and all the other non Arab Muslim ones. The Kurds. The Yazidis. The Turkmens. The Druze. Colonialism is a powerful thing.
