  • Deadly overdose: A flurry of Seattle overdose emergencies Tuesday including a deadly OD in a First Hill apartment. Around 11 PM, Seattle Fire was called to a unit of the Stockbridge Apartment building on Boren Ave around to a reported overdose involving three people suffering opioid overdoses. Seattle Fire reports its crews attempted lifesaving efforts for a 31-year-old man but were unsuccessful. The victim was declared dead at the scene. Lifesaving efforts on a 31-year-old man continued and was transported to Harborview in critical condition. Seattle Fire says a 33-year-old woman was also treated and taken to Harborview in stable condition. SFD typically responds to overdose calls every day but Tuesday’s spike was unusual with six separate incidents across the city including another around 11:30 PM Tuesday in front of the Harvard Market QFC. Grocery store security reportedly administered Naloxone to reverse the overdose and were performing CPR until Seattle Fire arrived to treat and transport the victim. The Seattle Police Department is investigating the Boren Ave apartment death. Drug testing strips are available for sale online and for free from area community groups.

  • Broadway E-bike-jacking: A man was robbed at knifepoint of his electric bike on Broadway Tuesday afternoon. Police were called to the Dick’s Drive-in just before 3:30 PM for the reported armed robbery. Police recognized the suspect’s description from another assault nearby earlier in the day. The thief was reportedly carrying a pit bull puppy in a red bag at the time of the hold-up. He was last seen carrying the dog and riding the stolen bike from the scene.
  • Sleeping man killed by recycling truck in Eastlake: A man police said was sleeping near dumpsters at the end of a dead-end street was crushed and killed by a recycling truck Tuesday morning in Eastlake. SPD reports the tragedy occurred just after 6 AM on E Shelby Street near the 2800 block of Eastlake Avenue E. Seattle Fire responded but the victim was declared dead at the scene. SPD says its investigators determined “that the driver unintentionally ran over an unhoused man lying in front of the garage and recycling dumpsters in the middle of the dead-end street.”

The Stockbridge isn’t exactly a squat- underscoring the fact that selling to unhoused folks is not how drug dealers make their money.

The customers become “unhoused” later. That is what serious drug addiction does to you.

Was in Walgreens and someone took a bolt cutter to it but couldn’t get through the cable. They did mangle it so now I got a 2nd U-Bar type to lock it up with.

The Broadway robbery is concerning. If police know what he looks like, why aren’t they releasing photos of him? I’m sure we’ve probably seen him around.
