Sunday morning, the hands of the new clock in the middle of the Seattle University campus will be wound back an hour as Daylight Saving Time ends.
The hands of the old clock have fallen back before.
Last week, the 12th Ave school’s officials gathered to celebrate the installation of the 120-year-old, 2,466-pound, 20-foot tall timepiece originally made to help keep the city’s downtown on schedule. It later became Seattle-famous as the F.X. McRory clock, standing outside the Pioneer Square restaurant since 1992.
With the restaurant now long gone, Seattle U says alum Mick McHugh made a donation of the clock and it has been installed on the campus next to the Casey Building.
The clock is a Capitol Hill-area rarity. The only other big clock around the Hill CHS can think of is on the east side of E John’s Holiday Apartments. Unfortunately, that clock has been stuck for years.
Stop by Seattle U’s campus Sunday if you need to check what time it is.
